Thursday 31st May:

The women’s Par competition was won in A grade by Sandra Toone with -4.  Runner-up on a count-back from Jill Fowler, was Vicki Hannah, with -5.  In B Grade, the winner was Valerie Johnson with +1 and runner-up on a count-back from Sami Oguzhan, was Robyn Lamson with -6.  Nearest the pin trophy went to Dawn Thomas.

The golf course will be closed from Monday 4th June for

tournament preparation, which begins Wednesday 6th June with a Men’s 4BBB stableford competition.  Some meals will be provided- please check your entry forms or the notice board at the club house.  June tournament results will be published at the finish of the whole event.

Wednesday 30th May:

Week 3 of the men’s stroke 4 week competition was won in A Grade by Bob Bedson 74/64.  Runner-up, Colin Coleman, who also netted a nearest the pin on 1st/10thhole, scored 77/64.  On 9th/18th hole in A grade Alex Baird was the nearest. B Grade winner was Alan Russ and Manuel Quintana was nearest the pin on 1st/10th hole.

Monday 28th May:

Women’s 9 holes stableford/stroke competition in very blustery conditions was won by Adele Rowarth with nett 32.  The runner-up was Vicki Hannah with nett 34.  Putting was won by Janice McKenzie with 16 putts.

Sunday 27th May:

Men’s 2-man Ambrose competition was won by David Hand and Brian Humffries 71/64 ¼

And the runners-up Peter Forbes and Colin Coleman scored 72/62 ½ .  Nearest the pin 1st/10th A grade was John Nankervis and in B Grade George Harrison.  On 9th/18th David Hand was the only contender.

Friday 18th May:

In SWGA much controversy surrounded the postponing of round 3 (Apollo Bay vs. Lara at Torquay) due to bad weather.  Some matches on either team had to be forfeited as contenders were unable to play another date.  Apollo Bay’s hero was Jenny McKeon who played the decider match on 24th May-which she won on the 18th hole giving Apollo Bay a 3/2 win. The next pennant round, played at the Sands Apollo Bay defeated Torquay 3/2 with wins going to Vicki Hannah, Jenny McKeon and Stacey Thomas. Unfortunately this was not enough to win the whole competition, but congratulations to the team for their wonderful effort.

Thursday 24th May:

The women’s stableford competition was won in A grade by Vicki Hannah 26 with runner-up Dawn Thomas 25. In the 31-45 division Jeanette Dodds was the winner with 28 points and Caroline Wren with 22 points was runner-up.

Wednesday 23rd May:

Week 2 of the men’s stroke 4 week competition was won by David Hand with 78/59 and runner-up John Nankervis scored 79/60.  John also had nearest the pin on 1st/10th, as did Willie Kifoto in B Grade. On the 9th/18th Peter Forbes was the most accurate driver.

Sunday 20th May:

Apollo Bay Men’s handicap green division pennant played in the grand-final against Bannockburn at Bannockburn.  Apollo Bay lost the match 1-4, David Wagstaff the only match winner 2/1. Congratulations to the team on reaching the grand final.

Men’s Stroke competition: Winner in A grade Bernie Coller 80/65, runner-up Rod Beecroft 85/67.  Nearest the pin 1st/10th was D. Wagstaff and Bill Marlow.

Thursday 17th May:

The women’s stableford 4 BBB competition was won by Caroline Wren and Sandra Toone with 35 points.  Runners-up were Valerie Johnson and Vicki Hannah with 34 points.

Wednesday 16th May:

Men’s 4-week Stroke competition first round: Winner in A grade Bernie Coller 16/60, runner-up Ken Johnson 18/62.  Nearest the pin 1st/10th was D. Richardson and on 9th/18th Bruce Munro.  In B grade the winner Bill Buckley scored 19/67 nett on a count-back from runner-up George Harrison 25/67.  Peter Forbes netted the nearest the pin trophy for B grade on 1st/10th hole.
